One Short Flight From Scotland On The Strength Of NCC Approval

By Dean Ronnie on March 5th, 2025

Since becoming an NCC Approved Manufacturer in July 2024, we’ve really benefited from the prestige of this accolade. With this string added to our bow, time and time again customers mention it as the reason for purchasing from us.

Showing the strength of this approval, one customer has gone further than others to become the owner of an NCC Approved campervan.

He did this by flying down from Glasgow to reach our Daventry branch for a campervan he hadn’t previously seen, all based on us being NCC Approved.

On Saturday 1st March 2025, Stuart Smith embarked on a journey which saw him leaving his Glasgow home, travelling to Glasgow airport, catching a flight into Birmingham International Airport and travelling by train to Long Buckby Train Station, all before getting into a taxi and arriving at our Daventry branch.

Impressively, he flew out of Glasgow at 9:45am and was travelling back to Scotland by 13:30pm. His return journey was much more straightforward though, he simply drove home in his new Redline campervan.

It’s not uncommon for customers to travel great distances to purchase our vehicles. However, the fact that Stuart had never seen a Redline campervan in the flesh makes his journey all the more special. After doing his research, it was the strength of Redline Campers’ NCC Approval which convinced him to part with £47,995 and purchase a campervan he had only ever seen online.

Having previously owned a share in a campervan which he used to hire out, safety was at the forefront of Stuart’s mind when searching for the next campervan he would buy. Heading to Google in a quest to learn more about Volkswagen camper conversions, Stuart came across the Redline Campers’ website and was reassured by the information he found.

Discussing this he said “The Redline website is reassuring, it explains the amount of checks involved and demonstrates that Redline is one of the few companies who have an ISO 9001 certification and are NCC Approved. As I will be using this campervan with my family and I will also be hiring this out, this gives me peace of mind.”

To hear Stuart saying this is fantastic for us at Redline Campers. This is because an extremely large amount of work goes into ensuring our campervans meet NCC standards. To achieve NCC Manufacturer Approval, our campervan conversions are subject to up to 600 points relating to our gas and electrical installations, furnishings, and cooking equipment. In passing these checks, our conversions are proven to exceed BS EN 1646 European Health & Safety Standards. In addition to this, our campervan conversions are also VCA Type Approved and are built following a Quality Management System which is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

This is something that Stuart was well aware of, saying the following “Redline Campers’ ISO 9001 certificate and NCC approval was a selling point for me as it gives me peace of mind that the build was done professionally and it was safe for both my family and hiring it out to others. I think it will be a good selling point when it is advertised to potential customers, also easing their concerns.”

Of course, like most of us, budget was also a factor for Stuart too. Along with our NCC Approval, the discounted price of the campervan was also another plus point.

He told us “I chose this Redline Sport campervan due to the price and the savings available. I thought the quality and age of the van was worth it when it had been reduced from 50k.

There also seems to be a large jump in cost between a mid point camper and high point, this van maintained quality, and was in the realms of affordability in regard to monthly payment. A major reason for buying it from Redline is that you could tailor your deposit, whereas other places had a minimum amount. For example I could put down 10% where other places were larger.”

After his 637 mile round trip to collect his camper, we are happy to hear Stuart has a number of trips planned to enjoy everything his new purchase has to offer.

So far, he has trips to the West Highland Way, The Outer Hebrides, and the North Coast 500 planned. He eventually hopes to take the camper out onto the continent and into Europe.

Of course though, he did also have the 5 hour trip home to Glasgow as his first trip. A trip which he described as “enjoyable as I was in my new van but a bit tiring towards the end, still a good way to check the van was running ok though!”

“All in all a great experience at Redline Campers, and the lads at the branch could not have been nicer, although they were a bit surprised that I was coming to buy a van unseen. I’m sure I’ve made the right decision though, and my mind is at ease knowing that I have a warranty with the van.”
