We have VW’s latest generation of Transporter on the ground, and you can see it for yourself at our Daventry branch.

The successor to the massively-popular VW T6.1, this newly released van model is available to view immediately. Not only that, it’s ready and waiting to be converted into our Practical Motorhome Award-winning, Redline Sport GT.

VW T7 Overview

Available in two wheelbase options: SWB (5.05m) and LWB (5.45m)
Available with either a diesel (TDI) or plug-in hybrid engine
TDI versions of the vehicle are available in two power variants – 110 PS and 150 PS
The 150 PS variant is available in 4MOTION all-wheel drive
Available with the choice of manual and or 8-speed automatic transmission

Built on the same platform as the award-winning Ford Transit Custom but with added VW extras, the VW T7 will form one of two base vehicle options for our Redline Sport GT conversion. It was this next generation conversion model that was the recipient of the ‘Highly Commended’ award for ‘Best Small Campervan’ at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2025.

Describing the Redline Sport GT as “A great little flexible van”, Peter Byrne from Practical Motorhome had the following to say when presenting the model with this much-coveted award:

“Redline is certainly looking ahead, because while this new model has been built on the Ford Transit Custom, it has been designed to fit just as easily on the new VW T7 platform as soon as it becomes widely available.

The Daventry-based converter is keen to take advantage of the closer working relationship between the two base vehicle providers.

Aside from whatever base you choose, this small camper van is a clever conversion that includes a two-burner gas hob, a 12V fridge and a 45-litre onboard water tank. The exclusive to Redline twin-polycarbonate rising roof comes with a noise reducing front spoiler, so long journeys on motorways can become more bearable if you’re doing a UK road trip, for instance. The roof canvas has twin mesh ventilation, and a large front window, and the roof bed includes a memory foam mattress.

Downstairs you will find a wireless charging pad among the electrical accessories, and we particularly like the way you can lift off part of the worktop to get access to even more storage space behind and below the drawers.”
