With so much choice out there, we understand how choosing a campervan conversion company can become quite a tricky task. Well, at least if you’re not armed with the right information.
At Redline Campers, we’re here to help you understand why we do things differently and provide you with everything you need to know to make an informed decision.
Starting with the basics, we will run through our credentials.
NCC Approved Manufacturer
Whilst there are hundreds of Volkswagen campervan converters operating in the UK, believe it or not, only six of these companies have approval from the National Caravan Council (NCC). We are of course proud to be one of those six.
What does being an NCC Approved Manufacturer mean?
The NCC is a trade association which exists to ensure business excellence and best practice to protect the interests of the public and provide peace of mind.
Being an NCC Approved Manufacturer means our conversions exceed BS EN 1646 European Health & Safety Standards.
This is proven by the association conducting regular on-site inspections of our production facility and the checking of up to 600 points relating to our gas and electrical installations.
Passing the NCC’s inspections and checks enables us to display the NCC Approved Manufacturer badge on our vehicles. Whenever you see this badge, you are seeing recognition that the converted vehicle demonstrates safety, quality and consistency in its build.
By having this approval, we join the likes of Adria, Bailey, Coachman, and Elddis. All internationally renowned manufacturers of caravans and coachbuilt motorhomes, where this approval is more prevalent. Unfortunately, in the unregulated campervan conversion industry this approval is not so prevalent. This is largely due to many campervan converters not being likely to pass these inspections and checks due to lack of consistent process, utilising untested components, and ultimately not meeting the standards upheld by the NCC.

VCA Type Approval
Not only are we an NCC Approved Manufacturer, we also have Type Approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA).
In order to achieve this, our campervan conversions have been subjected to a rigorous set of safety tests put in place by the Department for Transport. Much like NCC Manufacturer Approval, these safety tests are not mandatory for campervan conversions
Many campervan converters choose to forgo Type Approval due to the systems and processes they must have in place to be able to achieve this. We are not one of those converters.
What do VCA Type Approval tests involve?
VCA Type Approval tests involve testing on the base vehicles and every component we utilise as part of the conversion. These tests include physical pull tests on seat belts, testing of the fitting of all travel seats, and detailed assessments of payloads, mass distribution, and exterior projections. It also involves the testing of swivel plates, appliances and heating systems.

ISO 9001:2015 Certification
To ensure an effective vehicle conversion time after time, we’ve been audited to the internationally recognised standard, ISO 9001:2015. All of our vehicles are built to our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system, this enable us to deliver a consistent product with every campervan that we convert.
Due to the level of systems, process and auditing involved in achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, we are again one of only a handful of campervan converters in the UK to have this.
