Test drive the new Ford Tourneo-based Redline Sport GT

By Dean Ronnie on July 2nd, 2025

Not all campervans are created equal and we’re here to prove that with the most car-like camper we’ve ever built.

Whilst some converters will take a bog-standard builders van and call it a campervan, the Redline Sport GT is designed to be different.

Taking a premium passenger vehicle and transforming it into a Practical Motorhome Award-winner, the Sport GT is leading the next generation.

Unlike typical conversions, our newest campervan model is available on the latest Ford Tourneo Custom base vehicle. Amongst many other things, this executive people mover gives you a suite of safety and driver assistance aids usually reserved for luxury cars. Combined with the high-quality components we utilise in our conversions, this results in grace, pace, and style – all for the price of a standard campervan conversion.

Test Drive The Redline Sport GT Campervan

An award-winning conversion

Practical Motorhome - Best Small Campervan - Redline Sport GT

Back in December, Practical Motorhome magazine inspected this model for its Practical Motorhome Awards 2025. The result? The Redline Sport GT was named the ‘Highly Commended’ choice in the ‘Best Small Campervan’ category, proving its car-like credentials.

The fact our Sport GT is available on second generation Ford Transit Custom/Tourneo Custom and VW Transporter T7 base vehicles was one of the many things praised by Practical Motorhome.

Peter Byrne from the magazine confirmed this by saying:

“Redline is certainly looking ahead, because while this new model has been built on the Ford Transit Custom, it has been designed to fit just as easily on the new VW T7 platform as soon as it becomes widely available. The Daventry-based converter is keen to take advantage of the closer working relationship between the two base vehicle providers.”

That was back in December prior to the Ford Tourneo Custom and VW T7 being widely available. With all of these base vehicles now available for purchase, we offer the choice of Ford Transit Custom, Ford Tourneo, or VW T7 for our Sport GT conversion.

All of these vehicles are compact and car-like, which is why this Redline model received recognition from the magazine in the ‘Best Small Campervan’ category.

Though built on a compact vehicle, we have to agree with Peter who describes the Sport GT as “a clever conversion”. Continuing his review of this model, he said

“Aside from whatever base you choose, this small camper van is a clever conversion that includes a two-burner gas hob, a 12V fridge and an onboard water tank. The exclusive to Redline twin-polycarbonate rising roof comes with a noise reducing front spoiler, so long journeys on motorways can become more bearable if you’re doing a UK road trip, for instance. The roof canvas has twin mesh ventilation, and a large front window, and the roof bed includes a memory foam mattress.”

Summing up the Sport GT in a few short words, Peter called it “A great little flexible van”.
