A few weeks ago, we announced we have VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approval for new Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom-based campervans. Well, we are proud to say, the approvals continue.
In addition to approvals for our Ford-based campers, we now have VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approval for our New VW Transporter campervans too.
This means that every new campervan purchased from Redline Campers is:
Fully approved by the VCA
All of our campervans, built on the latest generation VW Transporter and Ford Transit Custom/Tourneo Custom vehicle platforms, now have VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approval. This means they have been tested for strict safety, environmental, and performance standards by the Vehicle Certification Agency, an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport (DfT).
To gain VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approval through the GB Small Series Approval Scheme, our Ford-based conversions and our VW-based conversions have been voluntarily subjected to this rigorous testing.
The tests are designed to ensure the vehicles meet the VCA’s specified standards and are safe to drive on the road. This involves comprehensive testing on the base vehicle and every component we utilise as part of our conversions, focusing on areas including structural integrity, seatbelt and anchorage systems, and vehicle electrical systems.
NCC Manufacturer Approved
In addition to being VCA Whole Vehicle Type Approved, our New VW Transporter and Ford Transit Custom/Tourneo Custom-based campervans are also National Caravan Council (NCC) Manufacturer Approved.
As the UK trade association representing the UK caravan and motorhome industry, the NCC exists to ensure that its members deliver high-quality products and services and treat customers fairly. Its Manufacturers Approval Scheme is recognised throughout the industry and is proof of a manufacturer’s commitment to the safety of its products and its customers.
To become NCC Manufacturer Approved, our New VW Transporter and Ford Transit Custom/Tourneo Custom-based campervans have had voluntary safety testing conducted on their gas and electrical installations, furnishings, and cooking equipment. In addition to this, we agree to have our conversions technically checked and regularly inspected by specialists.
Proven to exceed British and European health and safety standards
By passing safety testing from the VCA and the NCC, all of our new conversions are proven to exceed British and European safety standards.
Back in August, Production Manager at Redline Campers, Ben Marks, commented on the safety testing undertaken by the VCA and the NCC with the following words:
“Having the approval of the VCA and the NCC is of incredible importance to us. Both provide a comprehensive, multi-layered testing regime for our campervans, which enables us to not only ensure their quality but crucially, their safety too.
In order to be recognised as a manufacturer offering quality and safe conversions, it was key for us to have both of these approvals. That’s because these two organisations focus on different elements of the vehicle and are recognised in different ways.
The VCA oversees a broad range of automotive safety checks covering structural integrity, seatbelt and anchorage systems, and vehicle electrical systems. All of which are critical for roadworthiness and occupant protection.
The NCC on the other hand, focuses on the habitation side of the vehicle, conducting inspections, audits, and ongoing compliance checks, and covering essential areas such as gas and electrical safety, ventilation, and overall habitation standards. It was important for us to achieve NCC approval, as this is widely renowned as a mark of quality and safety in the leisure vehicle industry, and gives our vehicles a badge that is recognisable to many.
We are one of the few UK campervan converters to hold all of these approvals, and are proud to say our campervans are proven to be amongst the safest on the market.“
It is important to note that neither VCA Type Approval nor NCC Approval is mandatory for campervan conversions. Every aspect of the testing undertaken by the VCA and NCC was voluntarily agreed to by us at Redline Campers, as part of our commitment to quality and safety.
