At Redline Campers, we offer a wide range of new and used automatic campervans for sale. All of these are built on VW Transporter and Ford Transit Custom/Tourneo Custom base vehicles.

You may wonder why we refer to these as automatic/DSG. That’s because if you choose an automatic Ford campervan, it will simply be called an ‘automatic’ but if you choose an automatic Volkswagen campervan, it will be called a ‘DSG’. Essentially though, both of these platforms used the same type of automatic transmission, it’s just described differently.

What is DSG?

DSG is short for direct shift gearbox. This is the technology which VW utilises in its automatic Transporter models, plus many other vehicles across its VW, Skoda, Seat, and Cupra marques.

Unlike vehicles with a conventional automatic gearbox, DSG vehicles provide you with the ease of an automatic but with the responsiveness of a manual. A DSG gearbox is effectively two gearboxes in one, connected to the engine by two drive shafts, and allowing for smoother, faster gear changes.

Offering convenience when it comes to driving your campervan, DSG campervans can either be used fully automatic or can be used as a responsive quick-shift manual.

Whilst Ford doesn’t describe its automatic Ford Transit Custom and Ford Tourneo Custom models as having DSG gearboxes, due to this being a Volkswagen Group specific term, these automatic gearboxes work in a similar way, as mentioned above.

Providing you with a complete range of options when choosing an automatic campervan, all of the models in the Redline campervan range are available in automatic/DSG transmission.

What automatic campervan options do you have available?

We currently build our campervans on VW T6/T6.1, New VW Transporter (T7), Ford Transit Custom, and Ford Tourneo Custom base vehicles. Because we offer a variety of different base vehicle options, this allows us to offer a variety of different options for automatic transmission. See these options below:

Why choose an automatic/DSG campervan?

You might choose an automatic/DSG campervan for the same reasons that you would choose an automatic car. We often find customers prefer an automatic campervan as it provides them with a more comfortable and less tiring driving experience when taking their campervan on longer distance journeys. You are on holiday, after all!

If you’re looking for a brand new automatic campervan, the best option will be to get a campervan built to order. This will allow you to choose the exact base vehicle spec you require, the exact transmission and power output, and all kinds of options relating to everything from the exterior colour, to the wheels, and the in-cab functionality. And those choices are just for the base vehicle! When it comes to the conversion, we have six campervan models to choose from and one day van model. With each of these, you will be provided with choices relating to the colour and the finish of the furniture, the colour and the finish of the flooring, which worktops are installed, how many travelling seats the campervan is equipped with, plus much more.

Used automatic campervans for sale

Of course, we also offer used automatic campervans for sale too. Available on the VW T6/T6.1, New Transporter (T7), and first and second Ford Transit Custom and Ford Tourneo Custom platforms, we have several options when it comes to used automatic campervans. Your first option is a pre-loved campervan conversion, which is both a used base vehicle and a used conversion. Whilst your second option is a used base vehicle with a brand new campervan conversion.

You will be able to see the used automatic campervans we currently have for sale, above. With each of these, the condition will be clearly stated. This will enable you to quickly identify whether the campervan has been previously loved, or whether it’s a fresh campervan conversion built on a base vehicle that previously served another purpose.
