Our VW LWB Campervan Range

Long wheelbase (LWB) campervans are ideal for anyone looking for a little extra room in their leisure vehicle.

At Redline Campers, we offer LWB VW campervans on two vehicle platforms; the VW T6/T6.1 platform and the New VW Transporter (T7) platform. LWB campervans built on the VW T6/T6.1 platform measure 5.3m long, whilst LWB campervans built on the New VW Transporter (T7) platform are ever-so slightly longer at 5.45m. Whilst this provides you with extra room inside the vehicle, you will find these vehicles aren’t that much longer than the average estate car. This means you aren’t likely to encounter any difficulties when parking and manoeuvring a LWB campervan.

Providing you with freedom of choice, we offer all of our Redline campervan conversion models on the LWB platform. This includes our Practical Motorhome Award-winning Classic and Sport GT models, plus our Sport, Sport XS, Sport GT XS, and Trekker models.

Our Classic, Sport, and Sport XS models are available on LWB VW T6/T6.1 base vehicles. Our Sport GT and Sport GT XS models are available on LWB New VW Transporter (T7) base vehicles. Whilst our Trekker model is available on LWB variants of both base vehicles.

Comparing the size of a LWB campervan to a SWB campervan

If you are looking to compare the size of a LWB campervan with a SWB campervan, a SWB T6/T6.1 campervan is 4.9m in length whilst a SWB New VW Transporter (T7) campervan is slightly longer at 5.05m. There may not be much in it when it comes to the difference in length between a SWB and a LWB campervan, but you will find those 40cm or so go a long way, giving you valued extra room.

As LWB vehicles offer extra room compared to their SWB counterparts, the LWB version of these models will offer extra storage space. In addition to this, our Sport XS model features a Dometic two burner gas hob instead of the Dometic one burner gas hob available in SWB versions of this model.

All of the campervans we offer in the Redline Campers range are exclusively available from our branches in Daventry, Northamptonshire, and Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

If you’re looking for campervan from a previous generation, we can build our Classic, Sport, Sport XS, and Sport+ models on LWB VW T5/T6/T6.1 and first generation Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom base vehicles. Whilst if you’re looking for a day van, our Trekker model is available on LWB VW T5/T6/T6.1/New VW Transporter (T7), and first and second generation Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom base vehicles.
