At Redline Campers, we offer SWB VW campervans on two vehicle platforms; the VW T6.1 platform and the New VW Transporter (T7) platform. SWB campervans built on the VW T6.1 platform measure 4.9m long, whilst SWB campervans built on the New VW Transporter (T7) platform are ever-so slightly longer at 5.05m. You will find these dimensions are not too dissimilar to an estate car, meaning a SWB campervan is ideal for becoming your everyday vehicle.

Comparing the size of a SWB campervan to a LWB campervan

If you’re looking to compare the size of a SWB VW campervan to a LWB campervan, a LWB VW T6.1 campervan is 5.3m long whilst a LWB New VW Transporter is 5.45m long.

Because of the shorter dimensions of a SWB campervan, you will find it offers similar manoeuvrability to the car it will be replacing. This means it will also be just as easy to navigate down narrower streets in. Whilst making them ideal for everyday adventures as well as holidays, you will also find SWB campervans are easier to park in the tighter car parking spaces found in town and city environments.

Our Classic, Sport, and Sport XS models are available on SWB VW T6/T6.1 base vehicles. Our Sport GT and Sport GT XS models are available on SWB New VW Transporter (T7) base vehicles. Whilst our Trekker model is available on SWB variants of both base vehicles.

If you’re looking for campervan from a previous generation, we can build our Classic, Sport, Sport XS, and Sport+ models on SWB VW T5/T6/T6.1 and first generation Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom base vehicles. Whilst if you’re looking for a day van, our Trekker model is available on SWB VW T5/T6/T6.1/New VW Transporter (T7), and first and second generation Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom base vehicles.
