What are the differences between a RIB and a Rock and Roll bed?

At Redline Campers, we use RIB Altair beds in all of our campervan conversions apart from our Trekker and Sport GT models. We favour RIB Altair beds and the Mobiframe beds used in the Trekker and Sport GT models due to the quality of these bed systems compared with Rock and Roll beds.

In this article, we will be specifically focusing on the differences between RIB and Rock and Roll beds.

Here are a few of the differences between RIB beds and Rock and Roll Beds:

RIB Beds

  • Branded item
  • Designed and manufactured in France
  • More expensive product
  • Flips over so that you sit on one side and sleep on the other
  • Available with ISOFIX, as standard
  • M1 crash tested
  • TUV Approved
  • Bolted down through the chassis of the van

Rock and Roll Beds

  • Generic product
  • As they are a generic product, Rock and Roll beds aren’t manufactured in one single place. Instead, they are manufactured by many manufacturers across multiple locations
  • Cheaper product
  • Sit and sleep on the same side
  • Not usually available with ISOFIX
  • Most are not crash tested
